Cyber insurance
A digital incident is a business issue.
Discuss cyber insurance in the context of your systems, information and day-to-day operations. We help you consider the proposed cover and conditions alongside your existing insurance.
A renewal, a change or a new requirement?
The conversation behind the cover
Where your business depends on technology
Tell us which systems, data and suppliers are important to your operations. Consider how an outage or incident could affect your ability to serve customers.
The response behind the policy
Ask who to contact after an incident and which assistance or costs the proposed policy may cover. Response arrangements and exclusions vary between insurers and products.
Your responsibilities
Be ready to discuss your security arrangements and the information requested by insurers. Insurance supports a wider approach to cyber risk; it does not replace appropriate security measures.
Existing insurance and remaining gaps
Ask how a proposed cyber policy relates to other insurance and which events would remain outside its scope. Do not assume that another policy already provides the protection you need.

Useful to know
Before you enquire.
Cover depends on the individual risk, insurer acceptance and policy terms. Sending an enquiry does not put cover in place.
Explore commercial insurance ↗Do I need to send technical or sensitive information now?
No. Start with a broad description of the business. Agree a suitable route with the team before sharing security documents, personal data or details of an incident.
Does insurance replace cyber security?
No. Appropriate security and incident planning remain important. The insurer’s requirements and the policy conditions need to be understood and maintained.
What if an incident is already happening?
Use your existing policy’s incident or emergency reporting route and contact GCIS for support. A new enquiry does not establish cover for an existing incident.
